Āyurveda
Āyurveda is the science of longevity. It is one of the longest, continuously practiced health care systems in the world today. It is a complete, holistic system designed to guard health and treat disease. Āyurveda is an exceptionally powerful system that allows individuals to understand and take ownership of their personal health.
As modern living creates chronic illness, people are looking for answers for how to feel better. The living science of Āyurveda offers time tested methods (thousands of years!) for those interested in living harmoniously with themselves and the world around, in order to create optimal health.
Jessica Vellela, BAMS owns and operates ĀYU Academy and myĀYU and has been working to provide high standards of training in Āyurveda for students from the West. She also offers counseling services for those interested in learning the personal application of Āyurveda. She will be leading sessions within the retreat on the application of Āyurveda.
Yoga
Yoga is a ribbon of light that can be traced throughout time. It has survived cultural and environmental upheaval. It offers a system of living, moving and breathing that sets the individual on a path to inner peace and calm in all circumstances. It is an eight-pronged program that is apolitical and areligious, and can be applied in one’s life to enhance wholistic health. Anyone can do yoga at any level of physical ability.
Sara Nelson is a certified yoga therapist and physical therapist, and recent graduate of the Svastha Acharya (Āyurvedic Health Coach) program through ĀYU Academy. She will be leading sessions on the application of the eight limbs of yoga along with Sheila Salinas, RN and trauma informed movement specialist, and yoga teacher Ann Fraser.
Meditation
The focus of our meditation will be compassion. Through compassion for self and for others we can stay at peace despite the chaos that surrounds the world. Meditation that will assist in practicing calm in all circumstances. Experience in meditation is not required. Led by Judy Dirks, MHC and Cheryl Kulas, grief chaplain.

Free Talk: Provider Meet & Greet
Date: Thursday, October 20th, 2022
Time: 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm
Location: Richland, WA 99352
Format: Āyurvedic medicine for Americans, and Q&A with Jessica Vellela, BAMS
Cost: Free
From Sara Nelson, Owner of Therapy Solutions, Richland, WA
The last twenty years of treating people with lymphostatic diseases set me on a quest to find an answer to how to help people with chronic illness. That search led me to Yoga and Āyurveda. I have spent the last year training in the Svastha Ācharya program (Āyurvedic Health Coach) of ĀYU Academy with Jessica Vellela. It has been eye opening and has helped me understand a broader framework of providing health care. Modern practice of medicine can fit into this framework. Additionally, Āyurveda also offers time tested methods that help guard health and offers practitioners strategies for those patients that come with malaise but no quantifiable western diagnosis.
I would like other health care providers to have the chance to meet Jessica and find out about Āyurveda. I think licensed health care providers are the best to appreciate the importance of rigorous, comprehensive and accurate training to learn the system of Āyurveda, and bring this approach and information into American society.
So I would like to invite you to Therapy Solutions to meet Jessica, hear about her approach to Āyurveda and answer any questions you may have.
RSVP to Sara Nelson at snelson@therapy-solutions.us or text 509-539-0549 with your name.

Come with your questions! Jessica will give an introduction to Traditional Āyurveda and how it can help preserve health. Āyurveda can build a state of health that is filled with vitality and enthusiasm.
What
Traditional Ayurveda is the science of longevity. It is one of the longest, continuously practiced health care systems in the world today. It is a complete, holistic system designed to guard health and also treat disease.
As modern living creates chronic illness, people are looking for answers for how to feel better. The living science of Ayurveda offers time tested methods (thousands of years!) for those interested in living harmoniously with themselves and the world around, in order to create optimal personalized and sustainable health.
Due to issues of licensure and cultural differences among other factors, Āyurveda in the US is largely practiced in a watered down form. Jessica Vellela is dedicated to providing education to a depth of knowledge that has been missing in mainstream Western Āyurvedic education. She prepares students for success and advancement of Traditional Āyurveda in the coming decades.
