Ashlee Wilkin, BSND, CAP, CMT, Ayurdoula
Ashlee Sakaishi Wilkin is a Certified Āyurvedic Practitioner, Pancha Karma Specialist and Āyurvedic Labor and Postpartum Doula. Through the integration of Western sciences and Āyurveda she has tailored her practice toward working with women and families through their childbearing years.
Ashlee began her formal studies in understanding the human body during the completion of her Bachelor's degree in Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics. After graduation, she travelled to Southeast Asia where she studied yoga while receiving her first introduction to Āyurveda and yoga philosophy which ultimately led her to begin formal studies of Āyurveda at the California College of Ayurveda (CCA).
While at CCA Ashlee worked in the school's Herb Department preparing herbal formulas and also worked in the Pancha Karma Center administering Āyurvedic body therapies, She has also taught workshops for herbal medicine making, pinda sveda and Āyurvedic facials.
In 2011, Ashlee began exploring the intersection of Āyurveda, postpartum care, herbalism, movement, and birth work through studying with Ysha Oaks of Sacred Window School for Maternal and Infant Health where she completed her Āyurvedic postpartum doula training. Since then she has dedicated her practice to teaching Āyurvedic pre and postnatal workshops and cooking classes to Āyurvedic Practitioners, midwives, birth workers, and expectant parents while also actively working with pregnant and postpartum mothers and families to apply the principles of Āyurvedic postpartum care.
Currently, Ashlee teaches and mentors future Āyurvedic postpartum doulas and practitioners at the Center for Sacred Window Studies. In addition to her doula work, Ashlee has studied Jyotish with Freedom Cole, Yoga asana and philosophy with Brooke Sullivan at the Wild Temple School of Yoga and Herbalism. She brings these specialized skills to teaching at ĀYU Academy.
